From Thailand to Turkey: All about Travelblogging
Wednesday, July 29th, 2009The globe is getting smaller thanks to the internet and aeroplanes – and this is echoed in the plethora of weblogs penned by travellers around the world writing from wherever they are at the time.
From stories about Vietnamese diets to mango and sticky rice desserts, there doesn’t seem to be a topic that isn’t written about by these intrepid travellers.
These types of blogs – travelblogs – are popular with other travellers and people who’ve been to the nation they’re writing from. Also, such blogs offer an inside view of the country for the people considering journeying in the near future, so they serve a purpose as giving them a snapshot of what they can expect if they do choose to travel.
These days it’s normal to chance upon such travelblogs, and so it’s frequently not sufficient to simply provide your views on the country you’re presently residing in. Now there’s a need for travelblogs that target particular niches within the nation they live in. For example, a travelblog regarding photos of tuk tuks in Thailand, or maybe a blog that details the skiing in South Korea.
The majority compose such blogs for fun, and maybe a bit of attention, but there are bloggers who are able to earn cash from blogging. Be it money from advertising on their site, or for writing articles for other sites and being paid to do it as they are travelling. If you’re traveling in countries that have low living costs, this can be sufficient to maintain all your expenses – although you should have a backup reserve of cash and not have your blog be your sole method to supporting yourself.
In summary, it’s a good idea to write a journal of what you’re doing while you’re on your travels – as something to refer back to, and at the same time giving others a rare view at a part of the world they may know little about.
